Turner Classic Movies (turnerclassicmovies.com) examines the film mastery of Alfred Hitchcock with the television premiere of Destination Hitchcock: The Making of North by Northwest, featuring an inside look at one of the master of suspense's trademark films, on Sunday, September 10 at 8:30 p.m. (ET), followed by the 1959 suspense classic at 9:30 p.m (ET). ). Hitchcock at Work by Bill Krohn, a recently released book that examines Hitchcock's filmmaking procedures will be featured in TCM's Book Club section of the web site.

Hosted by NORTH BY NORTHWEST star Eva Marie Saint, the documentary offers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the movie and reveals some of the details that made the film especially difficult to produce, including explanations of how stunts were performed in the cumbersome terrain; the controversy that surrounded shooting at Mt. Rushmore and a famous on-camera blooper. Saint also shares her recollections of the film, including Hitchcock's personally choosing her entire wardrobe for the movie—a detail few directors control. The documentary also includes the original theatrical trailer and interviews with screenwriter Ernest Lehman, star Martin Landau and Hitchcock's daughter, Patricia. Following the documentary, TCM will present the world television premiere of the re-mastered film with a Dolby Digital soundtrack. The film was originally released in mono and has been converted to Dolby Digital using the authentic, original production elements.
