Turner Classic Movies (turnerclassicmovies.com) pays tribute to legendary crooner and film star Frank Sinatra with a six-night, 29-movie festival, beginning Monday, November 20, at 8 p.m. (ET). Sinatra’s impact on our culture will also be spotlighted in a Star of the Month on-air segment narrated by Nancy Sinatra, a commemorative cover of TCM’s Now Playing guide and a Sinatra section on the TCM Web site that will feature prizes, a photo gallery, style tips, a Sinatra biography on the "Book of the Month" page and a link to the newly updated Sinatra Web site, at hollywoodandvine.com.

TCM’s festival begins with the movie that assured his film career, FROM HERE TO ETERNITY (1953, Nov. 20, 8 p.m.), for which Sinatra won an Oscar® for his portrayal of Maggio. The festival will also highlight his memorable performances in such films as THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM (1955, Nov. 22, 8 p.m.) and SUDDENLY (1954, Nov. 23 10:30 p.m.), as well as the lighter roles that dominated his career in the 1960s, including OCEAN’S ELEVEN (1960, Nov. 21, 8 p.m.), in which he hammed it up with "Rat Pack" buddies Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. (complete schedule attached).

The short-form feature narrated by Sinatra’s daughter, Nancy, will include footage from his films, with Nancy’s memories of his life and career, and her thoughts on his legacy. The TCM Now Playing guide will feature Sinatra on the cover and will provide information on the recently released Classic Sinatra CD.

The TCM Web site, which will be linked to the Sinatra Web page at hollywoodandvine.com, will offer extensive information on his movies and music. turnerclassicmovies.com will feature a timeline chronicling Sinatra’s movie roles from 1944 to 1970, highlighted with photos from his key films and a Sinatra style guide. The site will also feature opportunities to win one of three prizes: the TCM "Book of The Month" Sessions with Sinatra: Frank Sinatra and The Art of Recording, by Charles L. Granata; The Way You Wear Your Hat : Frank Sinatra and the Lost Art of Livin' by Bill Zehme; and a movie and music prize package that includes eight Sinatra films and the recently released definitive Sinatra box set, Frank Sinatra – Concepts, a 16-CD set that features digitally remastered recordings in two cloth-covered folio books that include a 96-page booklet with many photos and notes by Sinatra biographer, Will Friedwald.

With a public persona ranging from bobby-sox idol to a peerless interpreter of popular songs who won nine Grammy® Awards, Sinatra was also a two-time Academy® Award-winning actor whose 50-film career might have been more impressive, had it not been overshadowed by his identity as an entertainer of mythic status. Sinatra grew up poor on the streets of Hoboken, New Jersey, and started out as a saloon singer. He eventually found work as a band singer, first with Harry James, then Tommy Dorsey. In 1942, when he started his solo career, and found fame as the "king of the bobbysoxers," he also began his film career in earnest. Although not formally trained, he was an instinctive actor who was best at playing parts that mirrored his own personality.
