LOVE, LOVE AND MORE LOVE! TCM Salutes Cupid With a Valentine's Day Marathon of Favorite Screen Pairs and "Romance On The High Seas" Viewer Contest

On Valentine's Day (February 14), the Turner Classic Movies (TCM) cable network gets a case of the mushies with a 24-hour Celluloid Couples Marathon, featuring the screen's greatest pairs, and will announce the winner of the "Romance On The High Seas Contest", in which viewers vote for their favorite screen couple by e-mail and via the TCM website. The randomly selected winner will receive an all-expense-paid trip for two aboard the Princess Cruise Line. Among the couples viewers may choose: Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, Esther Williams and Van Johnson and Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney. (See attached schedule).

TCM's Celluloid Couples Marathon spotlights the screen's most dynamic pairs. The day begins with Greta Garbo as a married woman who sacrifices everything for the love of a military officer (John Gilbert) in the aptly titled LOVE (1927, 6 a.m. ET), followed by Clark Gable and Jean Harlow in 1932's RED DUST (7:30 a.m.) and Bette Davis and Leslie Howard in IT'S LOVE I'M AFTER (1937). The day heats up at 5 p.m. with Hollywood's most famous couple on- and off-screen, Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn, in 1942's WOMAN OF THE YEAR, starring Hepburn as a political columnist who falls for sports writer Tracy. At 8 p.m., TCM spotlights America's favorite sleuthing couple, William Powell and Myrna Loy, in 1941's LOVE CRAZY, followed by Robert Mitchum and Jane Russell heating up the screen in HIS KIND OF WOMAN (1952, 12 a.m.). The night wraps up with the screen's most volatile pair, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, in 1965's THE SANDPIPER (4 a.m.).

TCM's Romance On The High Seas Contest runs from February 1-12. Viewers can vote via 1-800-551-0220, or on the TCM website at (http://TCM.turner.com/high_seas). Turner Classic Movies, currently seen in more than 20 million homes, is a 24-hour cable network from Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. that presents the greatest motion pictures of all time from the largest film library in the world, the combined Time Warner and Turner film libraries, from the '20s through the '80s, commercial-free and without interruption.
