A Day The Week Of March 30-April 5, in Honor of the

Legendary Studio's 75th Birthday

The Turner Classic Movies (TCM) cable network will become "The Warner Bros. Classic Movie Channel" for a Warner Bros. @ 75! Week birthday, a 75th-anniversary salute to the legendary movie studio that made some of the greatest classic movies of all time and made Humphrey Bogart, Bette Davis, James Cagney and others household names. Warner Bros. @ 75! Week movie highlights include CASABLANCA (1942), THE JAZZ SINGER (1927), A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE (1951), REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE (1955), THE MALTESE FALCON (1941), and more than 80 of the greatest films from the Warner Bros. vaults.

TCM's Warner Bros. @ 75! Week kicks off on March 30 and 31 with the best Academy Award®-winning and -nominated Warner Bros. movies, including CASABLANCA (March 30, 8 p.m.), starring Bogart and Ingrid Bergman; THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD (1938, March 30, 10 p.m.), with Errol Flynn as the swashbuckling hero; SERGEANT YORK (Mar. 31, 8 p.m.), starring Gary Cooper and Walter Brennan; and YANKEE DOODLE DANDY (Mar. 31, 10:30 p.m.), starring Cagney in the musical bio of George M. Cohan.

On Wednesday, April 1, TCM spotlights a night of Warner Bros. musicals, including the film that first put the studio on the map, THE JAZZ SINGER (8 p.m. ET), the first talkie, followed by the hit musical 42ND STREET (1933, 10 p.m.). On April 2, TCM spotlights six of the signature crime dramas that Warner Bros. was known for, including I AM A FUGITIVE FROM A CHAIN GANG (1932, 8 p.m.) and James Cagney and Jean Harlow in THE PUBLIC ENEMY (1931, 10 p.m.). April 3 spotlights classic Warner Bros. titles from the 1950s, including Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE (8 p.m.) and James Dean and Natalie Wood in REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE (10:30 p.m.).

The weekend packs a wallop with 48 hours of Bogie and Bette. On April 4, TCM salutes Bogart with 12 of his best Warners films, including THE PETRIFIED FOREST (1936, 8 p.m.), opposite Davis; THE MALTESE FALCON (9:30 p.m.), co-starring Sydney Greenstreet; and two co-starring the love of his life, Lauren Bacall: TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT (1944, 11:30 p.m.) and the 1945 version of THE BIG SLEEP (1:30 a.m.). On April 5, TCM salutes Davis, marking what would have been her 90th birthday with a 24-hour, 13-movie tribute, including THE PRIVATE LIVES OF ELIZABETH AND ESSEX (1939, 12 p.m.); the 1938 classic JEZEBEL (8 p.m.), co-starring Henry Fonda and George Brent; and the 1942 drama NOW, VOYAGER (12 a.m.).

TCM's salute concludes on the studio's official anniversary date, April 9, with a special night-long festival, featuring the TCM premiere of the 1991 documentary Here's Looking At You, Warner Bros. (8 p.m. and 12 a.m.) and three more Warner Bros. classics: EAST OF EDEN (1955, 10 p.m.), THE JAZZ SINGER (2 a.m.) and CASABLANCA (4 a.m.).

Warner Bros. was formed on April 9, 1923, by the brothers Warner-Harry, Albert, Sam and Jack L. After incorporating other small companies, Warners emerged almost overnight as a major studio with the 1927 release of the first "talkie," THE JAZZ SINGER. The gritty Warner Bros. style was forged in the Depression and found vivid expression in gangster movies and social dramas of the 1930s, such as LITTLE CAESAR, THE PUBLIC ENEMY and I AM A FUGITIVE FROM A CHAIN GANG. The tradition of socially conscious drama continued through the 1950s and '60s with such films as REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE and WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? Among the stars nurtured by the studio over the years were Humphrey Bogart, Bette Davis, James Cagney, Barbara Stanwyck, Errol Flynn and Doris Day. The studio remains a powerhouse today as part of Time Warner Inc.

Turner Classic Movies, currently seen in more than 20 million homes, is a 24-hour cable network from Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. that presents the greatest motion pictures of all time from the largest film library in the world, the combined Time Warner and Turner film libraries, from the '20s through the '80s, commercial-free and without interruption.
