• Shall We Dance
  • Mrs. Miniver
  • Now, Voyager
  • ...and more!

It's interactive television at its best! Once again, TCM allows its viewers to choose the movies they'd most like to see in our special week-long, 24-hour-a-day festival. The 88 movies in TCM's Fourth Annual Viewers' Request Festival were drawn from the thousands of requests we receive each month.

Viewers' choices are broken into nightly categories beginning with Movies That Made a Difference (November 13). Now, Voyager (1942) had a tremendous impact on Marcia Hunter of Philadelphia, while Mrs. Miniver (1942), with Greer Garson in her Oscar-winning role as a British wife bravely enduring World War II, was an inspiration to millions including John Fritz of Quakertown, NJ. The Next Generation (November 14), features movies requested by youngsters and teens. Shall We Dance (1937), a sparkling Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers musical, is the discerning choice of Amanda Bannister of West Columbia, SC. TCM to the Rescue (November 15), finds us screening movies that settle bets or family arguments, and offers a chance to catch a rare film. The little-seen The Hoodlum Saint (1946), requested by Joseph Gourdji of Forest Hills, NY, is unusual in that it offers swimming star Esther Williams a rare all-dry role as William Powell's love interest. Second Chances (November 16), offers another opportunity to see a film that viewers somehow missed in other showings. Wendy Sage of Seemes, AL, can at last enjoy the shivers of The Night of the Hunter (1955), in which psychotic preacher Robert Mitchum terrorizes two innocent children. Viewer Reviews (November 17), includes comments by viewers on why a particular film is among their favorites. Discover, for example, why Val DeMarco of Concord, NC, has a soft spot for the swashbuckler Scaramouche (1952), starring Stewart Granger and Eleanor Parker. Childhood Memories (November 18), offers adult viewers a chance to relive movies of their youth. Irina Nayvelt remembers the once-notorious The Outlaw (1943), a lusty Western starring Jane Russell. Movies to Share (November 19), are films viewers requested for a friend or family member to enjoy. Glenn Farrington of Coral Springs, FL, will share the sunny pleasures of the Jeanette MacDonald-Nelson Eddy songfest The Girl of the Golden West (1938).
