Astrid Lindgren is a celebrated Swedish writer of children's literature and a screenwriter. She worked as a journalist, and secretary, among other things, prior to becoming an author of children's books. She is best known for her "Pippi Longstocking" and "Karlsson-on-the-Roof" series of books. Her first book was released in 1944, titled "Britt-Marie Unburdens Her Heart." The following year, "Pippi Longstocking" was published, and it became so cherished by children that it has been translated into more than 50 languages. Readers of all ages have fallen in love with the fearless and rebellious Pippi and her world of adventure, which Lindgren created based on her own family, home, and experiences. Lindgren has written many screen adaptations of her fictional works, including "Pippi Longstocking," "Pippi Goes on Board," and "Ronja Robbersdaughter." She received the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1958 for her many literary contributions to children.
