Biography CLOSE THE FULL BIOGRAPHY

Leading Mexican actress at her peak during the golden age of that country's cinema. Macedo began in films at the age of 14 in the well-received "Las Cinco Noches de Adan/The Five Nights of Adam" (1942) and was active in films over the course of the next four decades. Her best known films are two directed by Luis Bunuel: the very dark but hilarious satirical comedy "The Criminal Life of Archibaldo de la Cruz" (1955); and the powerfully grim study of a saintly priest faced with hypocritical parishioners, "Nazarin" (1958), the latter featuring one of Macedo's finest performances as one of the villagers.
