Gordon MacRae had it all - the very best singing voice, a supremely handsome face, and great acting skills. Watch "Oklahoma" and just try not to fall in love with him! Follow it up with bad boy Billy Bigelow ("Carousel") and the biggest voice of any movie musical (My Boy Bill - Soliloquy), and you will find yourself craving more. I once read he said his early career came all too easy for him and he took it for granted, which lead in part to his down-turn and drinking problems. Such a terrible shame that we didn't get more movies with this wonderful talent. At least we have Oklahoma and Carousel. His 4 films with Doris Day were good as well, however her characters always had far too much more screen time then his - robbing his fans.
Gordon was one of the best musical stars of his day. He could sing anything and make it sound beautiful. I think he is a wonderful actor.
