Biography CLOSE THE FULL BIOGRAPHY

Producer Liz Newman began her career as an actress in 1985 with a role in the Sam Neill adventure movie "Robbery Under Arms," and she also appeared on the television shows "Home and Away" and "A Country Practice." By the early 1990s, Newman had given up acting and begun to work on big-ticket movies as an assistant and production secretary; in that capacity, she provided vital help to the Steve Martin comedy "My Blue Heaven," Brian De Palma's satire "The Bonfire of the Vanities," and David Fincher's thriller "The Game," where she served as production coordinator. In 1998, Newman turned to television and wore many hats for the hit HBO comedy "Sex and the City," including production supervisor, assistant production manager, and production coordinator, no small jobs considering all the locations used on that New York City-based show. In 2006, Newman graduated to producer status for the long-running medical comedy "Scrubs," starring Zach Braff.
