In the early stages of his Hollywood career, Pittman directed some television shows like "Friday the 13th: The Series" (1987-1990) and "Neon Rider" (1990-95). Pittman also directed some films including "Confidential" (1986), the Paul Goss drama "Chasing Rainbows" (1988) and the thriller sequel "Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II" (1988) with Michael Ironside.
