Biography CLOSE THE FULL BIOGRAPHY

Actor Larry Poindexter was raised in Dallas, the son of H.R. Poindexter, a Tony Award-winning lighting and set designer. He acted for a while in summer stock there, then spent some time in New York, and finally relocated to Los Angeles with his family. He began to find gigs as a production coordinator and actor through producer Franklin R. Levy and his Catalina Production Group. That program was touted as being the first serial to have actors performing in the nude, and often focused on risqué and controversial story lines. His first recurring role came in two episodes of another daytime soap, "Santa Barbara," in 1986. He had a more significant recurring role soon after, appearing regularly in the first season of the sitcom "Duet," playing Cooper Hayden, a film studio executive. He has since gone on to appear on scores of programs, often as a recurring character, like Navy drama "JAG"; short-lived mystery "Push, Nevada," which allowed viewers to win $1 million; and the MTV comedy "The Hard Times of RJ Berger," which had him...
