Movie stuntman Bill Cummings (James Macklin) is hurt while on location, and local boy Dave Wilson (Bill Henry) takes his place. "Risky" Russell (James Gleason), ex-stuntman turned agent, is mightly impressed and takes Dave to Hollywood, where Dave becomes the second coming of Dave Sharpe or Richard Talmadge, and also marries Russell's daughter, Marion (Thelia Darin.) After being injured, Dave promises to give up stunting. Later, he encourages Cummings to take a risky but good-paying gig and Cummings is killed. The show must go on, so Dave does the stunt.

Ranchers have been burned out and Buffalo Bill has been called in. He arrives just as Tom Russell is framed for murdering an Indian. A reporter (Ray Walker) from their old newspaper shows up and gains admission by claiming to represent an American Legion paper, while a friend of the family and a phony representative of an arms manufacturer also show up with intentions of stealing the gun. Bert and Alf, suspicious of the pair, steal the gun themselves to protect it. They arrive back, after a night of misadventures at a flophouse, just as the crooks are making off with a dummy gun and the inventor's daughter (Marian Marsh).
