Biography CLOSE THE FULL BIOGRAPHY

David Stern has produced and directed over 150 television programs, most of them live specials. Not to be confused with the NBA commissioner or the writer from "The Simpsons," both of whom share the same name, Stern has won a Daytime Emmy for "9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero," one of a series of 9/11-related specials Stern produced and directed. His earliest television credit was as an assistant producer on the 1975 World Series, the epic seven-game battle won by the Cincinnati Reds but most remembered for Red Sox player Carlton Fisk's dramatic game-winning homer that ended Game Six. He has written, produced, and directed every High School Heisman Trophy presentation since 1995. His directorial resume also includes fare as diverse as right-wing political commentator Glenn Beck's tour specials, live television broadcasts of PBS's "This American Life" and "A Prairie Home Companion," and nun-centric comedies "Nuncrackers" (2001), "Nunsensations" (2007), and "Meshuggah-Nuns!" (2010)
