Biography CLOSE THE FULL BIOGRAPHY

A comic actor and writer, Robert Ben Garant is best known for his work on the sketch comedy show "The State" and for playing Deputy Travis Junior on "Reno 911!." Garant got his start on the 1992 sketch comedy series "You Wrote It, You Watch It," hosted by Jon Stewart, and also wrote the first interactive movie "I'm Your Man." His initial break came as part of the ensemble cast of the sketch program "The State," an MTV show that helped launch the careers of several writers and performers. Some of that troupe reunited for the satirical variety show "Viva Variety" in 1997, a show he helped create. Garant was also part of the writing staff on several feature films, including the comedy "Taxi" and the Lindsay Lohan family adventure "Herbie Fully Loaded." His biggest success came in 2003 with "Reno 911! " the show he created with writing partners Thomas Lennon and Kerri Kenney. In addition to starring and writing for the show, he also directed several episodes and acted as executive producer. Garant and Lennon also wrote the adventure comedies " Night at the Museum" and its sequel "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian," both starring Ben Stiller.
