Joseph Downing was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Downing started his acting career landing roles in such films as the mystery "The Case of the Lucky Legs" (1935) with Warren William, "A Slight Case of Murder" (1938) and the drama "Angels With Dirty Faces" (1938) with James Cagney. He also appeared in "Danger on the Air" (1938), "Racket Busters" (1938) and "Wide Open Faces" (1938). He continued to act in productions like "Each Dawn I Die" (1939), "Smashing the Money Ring" (1939) with Ronald Reagan and "Torchy Runs For Mayor" (1939). He also appeared in "You Can't Get Away With Murder" (1939) with Humphrey Bogart, the crime picture "Invisible Stripes" (1940) with George Raft and "Belle Starr" (1941) with Randolph Scott. Toward the end of his career, he tackled roles in "Johnny Eager" (1941), "Unholy Partners" (1941) and the Edward G Robinson comedy adaptation "Larceny, Inc." (1942). He also appeared in "The Big Shot" (1942) and "You Can't Escape Forever" (1942). Downing last acted in "Las Vegas Shakedown" (1955). Downing passed away in October 1975 at the age of 72.
