Basil Gill was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. In 1911, he made his screen debut in the film version of Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree's production of Shakespeare's "Henry VIII." In 1930, he played the lead role in "The School For Scandal" alongside Madeleine Carroll and Ian Fleming. Gill began his career with a role in "His Lordship" (1936) starring George Arliss. Gill then began to rack up a number of film credits, including roles in the historical drama "Knight Without Armour" (1937) with Robert Donat. Later in his career, Gill acted in the Charles Laughton drama "St. Martin's Lane W.C.2" (1938). Gill passed away in April 1955 at the age of 78.
