When director Joshua Butler graduated Summa Cum Laude from University of Southern California's School of Cinema-Television, it was after writing and directing the award-winning short film"Will Work For Food." The film was an important start for Butler's career and helped him to get his start in the industry. In 1999 Butler directed the USA Network/Sci-Fi Channel series "Good vs Evil." He later moved on to direct two more series for that network: "The Invisible Man" and "The Huntress." In the early 2000s Butler directed a number of movies for television including "Prancer Returns," a holiday family movie about pre-teen brothers from a broken marriage who live with their mother in a small town. The movie earned Butler a DVD Exclusive Award nomination for Best Director. In 2010 Butler directed five episodes of the CW Television Network show "The Vampire Diaries." The show follows a group of young people in fictional Mystic Falls, Virginia, a town allegedly haunted by the supernatural. In keeping with the themes of teenagers with otherworldly powers, Butler directed an episode of the CW series "The Secret Circle"in 2011.
