Amazing Billy Haines
One of the most talented silent film actors, yet very little known. He was no one trick pony, comedy, drama, romance he could do it all. He was classy and couragous. A man who played by his rules and did not bend for the Hollywood machine. His acting is belivable and real. Overall he is my personal favorite actor. Reel Class!
The Awesome William Haines!
I now been a huge fan of William Haines for several years. I first read "The Wisecracker" back in the mid '90's, and was truly impressed with this man's life, and the way in which he chose to live it. I've now saw several of his films, (several times), and must say he has to be my all time favorite silent screen actor. His range was phenomenal , and his comic timing was perfect. It is truly a great loss to everyone that his career, (in films), was cut so short by the narrow minded, and homophobic moguls of that period. I would very much like to see more of his films shown here on TMC, and the one's that are, I make a point to record, and keep to enjoy over and over again.

After watching The Smart Set many times, I think he was a wonderful actor and wish to see more of his films on TCM. Not only can he act, but his interior designs were progressively modern for his time and are still in use today (there is a website that sells his furniture). He was not only a great actor, but a creative and fascinating man.
I love this man!!!
just sa m yfirst film of his ("The Smart Set") and I have become an instant fan. Mr. Haines is a great comedian. He's awesome!!! One of the greatest of all time!!!
William Haines was a major star, a top 5 box-office star from 1928-32. After scoring big hits in films like Brown of Harvard, West Point, and Tell It to the Marines, Haines sailed into talkies and remained a top star for MGM until his falling out with L.B. Mayer.
