Hannah Davis is a London-born filmmaker with credits in acting, writing, and directing. Growing up with her conductor/composer father Carl Davis and her actress mother Jean Boht, Davis spent her youth traveling the world to watch her father's performances (mostly scoring silent films) and to spend time with her mother while she worked on film sets. Pursuing a career in acting wasn't a stretch for Davis, and she moved to New York City to study with Sanford Meisner at his Neighborhood Playhouse, immersing herself in his trademark acting technique of subtle observations and emotional truths. She returned to London in 1996 when she landed an opportunity to perform a supporting role in revered director Mike Leigh's multiple-award-winning dramedy "Secrets & Lies," starring Timothy Spall and Brenda Blethyn. While finding small roles in television series here and there throughout the late '90s, David met her husband, fellow filmmaker David Connolly, and the two developed a functioning creative partnership. After teaming up on a number of screenplays for the BBC and short films, the husband-and-wife team collaborated on their 2004 dark comedy "Mothers and Daughters," about the complex relationships between women and their families. The film was shot over several years to give the filmmakers opportunities to finance the project, and was ultimately received well by critics. Under their newfound production company Mansion Pictures, the duo released their second film, 2008's showbiz dramedy "The Understudy," to mixed reviews.
