a delight to watch
- Elwood P. Dowd
This is FAR BETTER than the rather moronic remake. I agree with the comment below. Henry Fonda and Lucy are wonderful. Mr. Fonda's words about what true love is near the end of the film) are simple and moving. And Lucy has the ability to make every scene just perfect. Her brand of comedy was so natural and joyful. Made in 1968, it's tough to watch the eldest boy go into the marines when he is drafted. Fifty plus years later we have to remember the Vietnam War gobbled up so many young men. Nevertheless, whenever this movie appears on TCM I stop to watch it. We're fortunate these two talented stars made this movie together. Oh, Tom Bosley as the exhausted medical doctor is just wonderful.
Yours Mine Ours

Really dumb, contrived movie. Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda too old. Might have worked better if filmed when they were younger.

This movie wouldn't be so awful if I didn't know what a crappy dad Fonda was in real life.

This is a great movie, a triumph for both Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda. Yes, they were both "too old" to be of child-rearing age, but once you let go of that notion, they pulled their roles off beautifully with a lot of humor and heart. Besides, many younger actors would not have had the experience or depth to make it all ring true. I have to re-watch this film every time it's on.
Fun to watch
It's good to see Lucy and Henry Fonda together in this movie. The truth is, they are both a bit too old for the parts they play. He was 63 and she was 57--well beyond child bearing years. Nevertheless, the film is a tribute to these two actors. We want to see them and we want to believe this is a real family. in addition, there really are some funny scenes including Lucy getting sloshed when those kids mix her drinks with enough hard liquor to strip paint. This is the same Lucy who once got hammered with Vitameatavegamin, got trapped in a deep freeze or fell into a vat of starch. She's hilarious. The breakfast scene is quite wonderful watching the family prepare food for 18 people. And Henry Fonda is just a great guy. Soft spoken yet firm, he plays a good man of value and depth. This is a good movie because Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda make it so.

This is one of my favorite movies ! I've always loved Lucille Ball and her shows and her movies but this one is on the top of my list of great Lucille Ball movies it so funny and love the scene's of the Alameda Naval Air Station !
Yours, Mine, Ours Sans Support Groups
This movie succeeded in communicating the validity of the legitimate family which could never be done now since the redefinition of 'family' as pretty much being any group of people under 1 roof. Though beautiful throughout her entire life & professional to the end,Lucy's aging caused a loss of physical elasticity which turned what was meant to be a funny scene into something grotesque as in her drunken scene where Lucy gets food all over the little girl as her (Lucy's) laughing face contorts into a mask-like expression from insane clown posse!
This is one of my favorite movies, and Lucille Ball was more beautiful than ever during this time of her life. She still had the same look and personality from her I Love Lucy days. During the scene when she played liked she was a bit tipsy, I couldnt help but think of her Vitametavegiman commercial! I only wish that Lucy had left us with more movies like this to watch and remember her by. This is a true classic, with classic comedy and a classic beauty.

Love this movie!!!! I used to watch movies with my grandmother growing up and this was one of our favorites. I love TCM because these are the movies I grew up with and reminds me of a happy time in my youth. I hope TCM airs this great movie classic soon.

Love this movie. lucille Ball and Henry Fonda are great in this movie. Even little Eric Shea as Phillips Beardsly added some comical lines in this movie. This movie will always be one of my all time favorites .
A Lucille Ball Triumph
- David Atkins
Lucille Ball ran Desilu Studios and under Lucy's tenure the studio reached its zenith with Star Trek, Mission Impossible and Mannix, all big TV hits. Ms. Ball found a property Lucy developed at Desilu that would turn out to be a smash hit and as Desilu's Yours Mine and Ours became the biggest film hit of her great career and a big moneymaker for Desilu and its distributor United Artists.Lucille Ball recruited Melville Shavelson as Director and Henry Fonda and Van Johnson as co stars and this is a wonderful family fun. I particularly liked the fact that Yours Mine and Ours showed the Navy in such a favorable light. Lucille Ball should have been nominated for an Oscar for her fine performance. Fonda is as always very fine.Soon after this film, and with Desilu at its peak, Ms. Ball folded Desilu into Paramount.
One of my Favorite movies!
This is such a fun movie that it has become one of my all time favorites. Much better that the 2005 version. If you want a entertaining evening with the family this is a must see.

My dad took us to the drive-in when this movie first opened. I lost count of number of times i have seen it since the first time. No one could have been a better selection to play the lead roles. As much as I like Dennis Quaid the re-make can not compare to the first one.
Classic family film
- Jarrod McDonald
I agree with Ashley's comment...this is one of those films that never should have been remade. It holds up very well. Rene Russo just can't compare to Lucille Ball (and I like Rene Russo, but nobody can beat Lucy's comic talents). I'm glad that TCM shows it fairly often. 'Angels in the Outfield (1951)' is another great comedy where the original is far superior to the remake. Do yourself a favor and see these classics. And if you like the pairing of Fonda and Ball, check out 'The Big Street' from the early 40s.
I have loved this movie since I watched it for the first time at twelve now I am 27 years old. This movie is awesome. I love it! I watched the remake that came out in 2005 it's nowhere close to being the movie the orginal one is!
u gotta see it
the movie is excelent! lucille ball and henery fonda and all the others did extremely well in this movie
Yours, Mine, and Ours
