Slightly better than "Johnny Tremain," (hey, at least it's got some eroticism courtesy of Anne Francis) but still very much in the stiff, stick up the ass tradition of all Hollywood examinations of American history pre Civil War. Give it a C.

I wish that The Scarlet Coat was on Region 1 DVD. Michael Wilding, Sr. as Major John Andre is terrific.

  • A STORY OF FREEDOM IN THE MAKING

THIS IS AN IMPORTANT MOVIE IN THE MAKING OF OUR COUNTRY'S ROOTS. THE STORY REMINDS US THAT WE WERE UNTIED AS A PEOPLE IN FIGHTING FOR OUR FREEDOM AND OUR RIGHTS AS AMERICANS AND NOT SO DIVIDED AS WE ARE TODAY. VERY REFRESHING. AS A PEOPLE WE CAN BE PROUD OF OUR FOREFATHERS. IN CONTRAST THE STORY IS TOLD WITH BENEDICT ARNOLD AS THE MAIN CHARACTER BEFORE TAKING HIS WRONG TURN IN HISTORY. NEVER THE LESS AS AMERICANS GETTING IN TOUCH WITH OUR HISTORY MAKES THIS MOVIE A GREAT VECHICAL WHILE BEING TREATED IN ITS WELL ACTTED PRESENTATION BY SOME OF THE GREAT STARS OR YESTERYEAR SUCH AS WILDE, WILDING, MCINTRE AND SANDERS AND WELL DIRECTED BY JOHN STURGES. THE COLONIAL SETTING IS WELL DONE SETTING THE MOOD IN THIS CLASSIC WHILE PROVIDING A VERY BELEVABLE LOOK INTO THE MAKING OF OUR COUNTRY. ENJOY!!
