Andy Wittaker, an ambitious shoeclerk who has invented an unmarketed arch supporter, meets June Allen on the street and pretends he is an important businessman. Later, she comes to the shop and forgives his deception, but when Robert Riggs, the owner's son, catches him dancing with her, Andy has to resign. Andy obtains a loan from a trust fund established for him by his uncle, but en route to a party, he hits the uncle with his new car, and therefore the uncle decides to cancel the trust fund. Andy is then hounded by creditors for the return of a ring he has bought for June, and he goes away in disgrace. Meanwhile, he opens a shoestore so as to sell his arch supporters, and June hires an actor to make a fictitious offer for the marketing rights in the presence of the creditors; but Andy sells the rights at a high price to a bona fide buyer. He and June then find happiness in their success.
