After a series of wild escapades, Kenneth Jamieson is sent by his irate millionaire father to stay on a chicken farm in the little village of Dedham. On the same day, Diane, the niece of the Reverend David Lee, arrives from Paris, sporting French manners and the latest Parisian clothes. A few days later, Kenneth gets drunk and makes a fool of himself, but David speaks to him and shows him the error of his ways. Grossly underpaid, David asks the vestrymen for a raise. They refuse it to him, claiming that he is deserving of nothing until he sends Diane away. Kenneth's father learns of his son's infatuation with Diane and comes to Dedham, expecting to find a gold digger. He is quickly won over by the girl, particularly after she nurses Kenneth back to health when he becomes ill. The elder Jamieson, angered by the hypocrisy of the vestrymen, gives them a piece of his mind. David receives his deserved raise, and Kenneth and Diane become engaged.
