Watched this fun ride by happy accident. I guess one needs to like a stab at English humor. I could not understand the other reviews on this site. It's simply one of the best movies I've ever seen. Guess I don't get out much. The only part that gives one a little pause is the estate was a farm. I didn't see much farming going on. I don't believe many farms of the time could have supported such opulence. A great cast well directed. I've watched hundreds of movies I couldn't get passed the first ten minutes or so before turning to something else. I was wishing for more with this one.

Mr. Darcy now a member of the lost generation in this old, tired, ho hum. Without Elizabeth Bennet his is nothing.

You know Jessica Biel is quite a striking young woman - no problem there. But there is always something off kilter in any movie when the leading man (Ben Barnes) is actually more feminine than the leading lady....maybe he's just too young for the part. And by the way, do you all notice that Colin Firth has the same expression on the DVD covers of his movies. That's what you get from him, the same ole.

Oh my, here we go again. Hey Jay, the only reason Colin Firth seems the best of the cast in this movie is because all the other characters are old tired hypocrites from the old days (after the great war), in this tired old story from Noel Coward. He walks around making asides and has one scene where we find out what's bothering his character. Firth has shown in the past that he can't sing, can't dance, he's not particularly funny and now we see he can't even smoke and look real. And unbeleiveble of all he plays a married father of 3 young adults and seems more gay than in THE SINGLE MAN.By the by, Jessica Biel accidently sits on her mother-in-law's little dog and kills it, then has to get rid of the body. Isn't that funny? Not in this movie.

Flawed and a bit stagy, but quite entertaining. The cast is good. The art direction and costumes are memorable. Good story and score. Colin Firth is the best in the cast.
