Felix Miller, a fast-talking promoter who is continually getting his in-laws in trouble, talks brother-in-law Joe Barton into lending him the bank roll that Joe had been dreaming of using to buy a barbershop. With Joe's savings, Felix promotes a Florida booking for Joe's little daughter Irene, a talented ice skater, after which Felix, accompanied by Irene, her mother Elsie and sister Jane, all head for Miami. Once there, Felix decides that it is time to snag a rich husband for Jane, and to improve the odds, he poses as a millionaire. On the theory that clothes make the man, Felix picks Harrison Gregg as his quarry, not knowing that in reality, "lounge lizard" Gregg is as much a millionaire as Felix. Consequently, when Jane defies her uncle's plans by falling in love with the frugal-minded and unsophisticated Leopold Eddington, Felix does all he can to break up the romance, causing the discouraged Leopold to stop seeing Jane. Matters are set straight, however, when Joe, summoned by a request from Felix for more money, arrives, learns of Felix's extravagant deception and encourages Leopold to renew his courtship of Jane. Once the sweethearts are married, Leopold reveals that he is a genuine millionaire and rewards his father-in-law with the barbershop of his dreams.
