i find lawman to be one of the great underated westerns.it came out in the wake of the wild bunch, and shares actor robert ryan, but i feel lawman is the better film.both ryan and lancaster are great in there roles, but so is the rest of the cast.more than a western 5 out of 5 stars.

  • Lawman a must see for western fans.

This movie is one of my top ten favorite westerns. Burt Lancaster plays an aging lawman who is "by the book". Robert Ryan is a bought and paid for sheriff in a town Lancaster visits on the trail of cattlemen who shot up a town. The dialogue between the two is classic. Near the end of the movie, Lancaster decides maybe Ryan is right and decides to take a "what the hell" attitude, but gunfighters in the street take him back to his true nature. This is a story of two aging lawmen as we see in the western "Ride the High Country", another of my top 10 westerns.Don't miss it!
