Being from the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area was enough to peak my interest to watch this film over one lazy weekend, even though I had not heard of it before. I knew TCM doesn't usually disappoint so.... I watched it, and I enjoyed it. The characters were fairly well-developed for what it was as a simple comedy of the era. It harkened back to a day when we were full of American pride and when it was still ok for women to expect to find their "prince charming." There were a few really funny moments and some sweet ones too. My only complaint would be that the end didn't make sense, because it seemed the whole film was building to support one outcome, but that was not the outcome we were given. Still, the characters seemed happy with it, so we are to be satisfied as well I suppose. I liked the actors and the premise enough to want to watch the "sequel," which I think I read exists out there as well.
